About JT
I’ve spent more than 25 years working across the wildfire system—from the fireline to leading complex state fire programs and private-sector operations. My career has included serving as Fire Management Bureau Chief for the Idaho Department of Lands and Fire Management Officer for Wyoming State Forestry, along with leadership roles in interagency coordination, emergency management, and private-sector wildfire operations.Along the way, I’ve led large operational workforces and programs, worked across state, federal, local, and private organizations, and helped build systems designed to perform when conditions become complex. That experience gives me a perspective that crosses organizational boundaries. I understand how wildfire decisions are made in the field, inside government, and within private organizations—and where good ideas can struggle to become operational reality.Today, I bring that experience to organizations working at the intersection of wildfire, government, operations, technology, and business. My approach is practical: understand the problem, understand the operating environment, and develop solutions that can actually be implemented.

From Capability to Operational Value
A product, program, or strategy can be technically sound and still struggle in the field.Wildfire organizations operate within complex systems of policy, funding, procurement, interagency coordination, operational doctrine, risk, and culture. Understanding those systems matters.Rocky MTN Wildfire Pro helps organizations identify and work through the issues that can determine whether a capability moves from a good idea to operational reality:Does it solve a real operational problem?Where does it fit within existing wildfire systems?Who needs to use it, approve it, fund it, or trust it?What could prevent adoption or implementation? What has to happen to move it from concept to operational use?The objective isn't simply to provide advice. It's to help turn capability into operational value.
